Alongside home and business delivery, Posti operates an extensive self-service network of parcel lockers and pickup points, which are a popular way for Finns to collect online orders. Posti carries the cross-border leg for goods sent by Finnish retailers and individuals. For US recipients, Posti flies international parcels and mail to the States and hands them to the United States Postal Service for final delivery under the postal partnership between national carriers. It is the carrier you'll see on packages originating in Finland. Posti Services & Delivery Times
Posti's services span letters, domestic parcels, and international shipping:

Tracked parcels update from dispatch through pickup or delivery, while ordinary letter mail carries little or no tracking. Posti's parcel-locker and pickup-point model means many domestic parcels are collected rather than delivered to the door. International timing depends on air transport, customs, and the destination postal partner, so estimates are stated in business days rather than as guarantees.
Posti Tracking Number Format
Posti international items commonly use the UPU S10 format—two letters, nine digits, and the country code FI—for example RR123456785FI. Domestic parcels use Posti's own tracking references, which are typically longer numeric codes and sometimes carry a JJFI-style prefix for postal parcels. Find the number on the shipping label, the pickup-point receipt, or the sender's confirmation. If your code ends in FI, it's the international format bound for US customs and a USPS handoff. Enter it without spaces so PackageTrackNow can follow the item through Posti and then USPS. Ordinary untracked letters carry no barcode and can only be estimated by typical transit time.
Posti Delivery Schedule
Within Finland, tracked parcels are typically available for pickup or delivered in 1–4 business days, depending on the service and destination, with northern and remote areas taking longer. For US-bound shipments, Posti to USPS delivery generally runs roughly 7–14 business days, covering the air leg, US customs clearance, and the USPS final mile—longer during peak periods. These are estimates in business days, not guarantees, and exclude Sundays, Finnish public holidays, and US postal holidays. Customs inspections can add a day or more independent of transport speed, and ordinary untracked letters can only be judged by typical transit time.
Tips for Tracking Posti
- US delivery is completed by USPS, so after the border look for USPS scans and sometimes a separate USPS number for the last mile.
- Many domestic parcels go to a parcel locker or pickup point in Finland—watch for the collection code and the pickup deadline.
- A code ending in FI is the S10 international format headed for US customs and a postal handoff.
- Only tracked parcels update fully end to end—ordinary letter mail shows little or no detail.
- Expect a brief customs pause at the US border before the item is released to USPS.
- For a missing parcel past the estimate, the Finnish sender files the trace, since their contract is with Posti.
